July Rains…Not Over Yet?

The damage from these rains will likely be felt for many months to come and we are expected to have even more rain in the coming weeks. So please be careful and pay attention to local weather alerts regarding flooding and landslides. Below are recent news articles highlighting some obvious damage:

2013 Rockslide Conference

ALC is a proud sponsor and participant of the 2013 Rockslide Conference that will be held on Wednesday, June 5th from 9am-3pm at Haywood Community College. The agenda and guest speaker line-up looks great so be sure to check it out if you’re interested. Registration fee is $15.

Recent May Rains

April showers have continued into May with Western North Carolina being 10 inches above normal for the year (9 of which we’ve received in the last 4 weeks). Here are some totals from the past 36 hours: Asheville 4.69, Fairview 6.57, Waynesville 4.48, Canton 7.08, Hendersonville 6.52, Brevard 6.98, Tuckasegee 2.72, Franklin 4.19, Marshall 3.14, Burnsville 5.51, Bakersville 4.28, Linville 8.18, Marion 6.62, Saluda 7.08 and Chimney Rock 6.28 inches.

Several landslides have occurred throughout the region, one of which has resulted in the death of Mr. Joseph Drewnoski. Please keep The Drewnoski Family in your thoughts and prayers. Below are links to to recent news articles:
